Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy flagged off 100 new Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) buses near Dr. BR Ambedkar statue on PV Marg here on Saturday.

Of a total 100 new buses, 90 buses are belonged to Express service category and 10 buses are belonged to AC Rajadhani.

Women can avail the facility of Mahalakshmi-free bus travel scheme in the newly introduced 90 Express buses, which are primarily operated to clear the rush of passengers who travel on Medaram route to visit the Sammakka Sarakka Jathara in Mulugu district. Meanwhile, the Corporation, for the first time, is operating 10 AC Rajdhani buses for Srisailam temple.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister lauded the role of RTC workers in the achievement of Telangana State and said that no one would forget the sacrifices of the RTC workers.

Revanth Reddy recalled that the RTC workers had boycotted their duties and stalled the bus transportation during the Sakala Janula Samme agitation, hoping that their long pending problems would be solved, once Telangana was attained statehood.

However, the previous BRS government had dissolved the trade unions and failed to solve problems of the victim families.  It also neglected the bereaved families of 36 workers who died during the strike, he pointed out.

Stating that RTC workers are credited with implementation of the first of the six guarantees, the Chief Minister said the State government has released Rs 281 crore to RTC despite the income being reduced.

“The free bus service for women has helped to strengthen the RTC. With the blessing of all RTC workers, the people’s government is formed in Telangana and the State is moving on the path of development,” Revanth Reddy said.

He said that after the formation of the Congress government in Telangana, the first budget was introduced on Saturday and the budget outlay was Rs 2,75,891 crore.

“The State government has prepared a realistic budget based on the facts. It will not tell lies like the previous government.

We will govern the State in such a way that the entire country will emulate the Telangana model in the administration,” the Chief Minister added.
