Traffic rules violators in Hyderabad will have to pay a heavy price from today

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad traffic police will launch a two-fold special drive starting from Monday, October 3 in the name of Operation ROPE (Removal of Obstructive Parking and Encroachments). Police are taking steps to strictly enforce traffic rules. During the campaign, efforts to remove parking encroachments and unauthorized encroachments will be intensified. Action is also being taken against the unauthorized encroachers on the roadsides and these unauthorized occupiers will be vacated.

Fines ranging from Rs 100 to 1000 based on the obstructive item will be imposed. Towing charges of Rs 200 along with a fine of Rs 100 will be imposed for two-wheelers whereas for four-wheelers, towing charges of Rs 600 along with a fine of Rs 100 will be imposed.

In this regard, Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand while talking to the media said that awareness will be created in the public for two or three days in the beginning of this campaign. The vehicles should be stopped before the stop line. Commuters violating the stop line will be fined Rs 200.

He pointed out that vendors are occupying the footpaths illegally. The vendors and shopkeepers are creating a difficult situation for the passers-by by keeping their goods on the footpaths. He has requested the shopkeepers and the owners of commercial establishments to voluntarily remove their goods from the footpaths or face prosecution. Seeing people’s cooperation in this campaign, Mr Anand said that if the traffic situation remains like this, the situation in Hyderabad will also become like Bengaluru.

He also warned against triple-riding and other violations. The police commissioner asked to drive with patience and take care of others on the road. The police commissioner also requested public representatives to cooperate during this campaign.

Hyderabad traffic police said in a release that the operation has been undertaken as part of its efforts to improve traffic flow and guarantee the safety of pedestrians.
