Hyderabad: Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that the BRS party is losing relevance in Telangana politics and will further diminish after the Lok Sabha elections.

Talking to the media after attending the annual Urs celebrations of Jan Pahad Saidulu Dargah here on Friday, he predicted 13-14 Lok Sabha seats for the Congress in Telangana. He asserted that the BRS would be limited to one or two seats. He emphasised the diminishing role of BRS in the state’s political landscape, highlighting that the main contest is between Congress and BJP.

Uttam accused the previous BRS regime of financial mismanagement, claiming the KCR-led government’s development claims were mere hype. He disclosed findings from department reviews, revealing substantial debts in departments like Irrigation, Civil Supplies, Energy, and Mission Bhagirathi.

Initiating probes into irregularities, he vowed serious action against those involved in scams. Specific instances of financial mismanagement were cited, including the spending of over Rs 94,000 crore on the Kaleshwaram Project with minimal benefits. Investigations into Bhadradari and Yadadri power projects were also initiated.

Highlighting financial mismanagement in the Civil Supplies Corporation and Mission Bhagiratha, Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed concerns about water scarcity despite substantial spending on the latter.
