KTR Meets MANUU Students, Slams Govt Over Alleged Land Grab; BRS Promises Full Support

KTR met MANUU students and accused the Congress government of illegally targeting 50 acres of university land, promising BRS support and slamming attacks on students and unemployed youth.

Hyderabad: K T Rama Rao, Working President of the BRS, held a detailed interaction with students of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), where concerns were raised over the alleged takeover of 50 acres of university land by the state government. The students strongly opposed the move, saying it threatens the future expansion and identity of the institution.

Students Flag Concern Over 50 Acres of MANUU Land

During the meeting, MANUU students informed KTR that the state government is attempting to reclaim land legally allotted to the university, which they described as illegal and harmful. They stressed that the land is crucial for future academic and infrastructure expansion.

“Congress Targeting Education for Real Estate”: KTR

Speaking to the media after the meeting, KTR launched a sharp attack on the Congress government, alleging that it is trying to weaken the country’s only Urdu university for real estate interests.

Key points raised by KTR included:

  • The Congress government is illegally eyeing 50 acres of MANUU land
  • The state has turned into a “serial land grabber”, targeting educational institutions
  • University lands are being treated like real estate assets
  • Similar attempts were made earlier to take Hyderabad Central University land
  • Supreme Court intervention and student protests stalled earlier attempts

Allegations Over Central University Land Deals

KTR recalled that even after the Supreme Court flagged a ₹10,000 crore land scam related to Central University land, no serious investigation was conducted. He said if strict action had been taken earlier, the government would not have dared to target MANUU now.

BRS Assures Support to MANUU Students

The BRS leader assured students that his party would stand firmly with MANUU and its students. He promised:

  • Full political and legal support to protect university land
  • Raising the issue in Parliament and Rajya Sabha, if required
  • Supporting protests, including at the national level in Delhi
  • Providing funds for university expansion when BRS returns to power

Questions to Rahul Gandhi Over Minority Protection

KTR questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s claims of being a protector of minorities, asking how snatching land from a minority university fits that narrative. He said weakening MANUU affects minority students from across India.

Condemns Lathi Charge on Unemployed Youth

KTR also strongly condemned the recent police lathi charge on unemployed youth and students, who were demanding job notifications. He accused the Congress of betraying its promise of two lakh government jobs and using police force instead of addressing unemployment.

He alleged that students were detained, taken across multiple police stations, and harassed, while the Chief Minister attended public events. KTR asserted that BRS will stand with unemployed youth and students in their struggle.

In the concluding remarks, KTR said targeting universities born out of people’s movements for Telangana is unacceptable and warned that education institutions must not be sacrificed for real estate interests.
