Telangana plans to introduce a Unified Welfare Card integrating ration, pension, Mahalakshmi and other government schemes into a single smart card. Officials have been asked to prepare a plan within 10 days.

The Telangana Government is planning to introduce a Unified Welfare Card that will integrate details of all government welfare schemes into a single card for citizens. Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao said the primary objective of the initiative is to simplify government services, enhance transparency and provide digital services through a single platform.

The proposal was discussed during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao on Friday at the Dr. B.R. He directed officials to develop the initiative under the concept of:

“One Card – Benefits of All Government Welfare Schemes.”

Ration, Pension and Mahalakshmi Scheme to Be Linked

Officials were instructed to integrate all major government welfare schemes with the proposed card.

These include:

  • Ration services
  • Pension benefits
  • Mahalakshmi Scheme

Data Privacy and Security Given High Priority

K. Ramakrishna Rao directed officials to give the highest priority to data security and citizen privacy while developing the Unified Welfare Card.

He instructed departments to prepare a comprehensive implementation plan within 10 days.

Officials were also asked to explore the possibility of linking additional information and services to the card, including:

  • Birth certificates
  • Death certificates
  • Pension data
  • Health profile information

The Chief Secretary said integrating these services could further simplify access to government records and citizen services.

Study Smart Card Models from Other States
