Telangana plans to build 1 lakh Urban Indiramma Houses in 24 constituencies. Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy reviewed future-ready housing designs for poor families.

The Telangana Government is moving ahead with plans to construct comfortable, secure and future-ready houses for poor families living in urban areas under the Urban Indiramma Housing Scheme. Housing, Revenue, Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the government is preparing housing plans in line with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vision of ensuring a dignified life for the urban poor without affecting their livelihoods.

The Minister made these remarks while conducting a comprehensive review meeting with officials on Friday following the State Cabinet’s recent approval for the construction of 1 lakh houses in the first phase across 24 constituencies under the CURE limits.

Cabinet Approves 1 Lakh Houses in First Phase

Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy reviewed several model designs prepared for Urban Indiramma Houses and suggested important modifications and improvements.

The review meeting was held after the Telangana Cabinet approved the construction of 1 lakh houses in the first phase in 24 constituencies falling under the CURE jurisdiction.

The Minister directed officials to ensure that the housing project becomes a model urban housing initiative for the country.

Buildings Should Meet Needs of Next 40 to 50 Years

The Minister instructed officials to plan the housing structures keeping in mind the requirements of the next 40 to 50 years.

He said the objective is not merely to build houses but to develop complete residential infrastructure suited for future generations.

According to the Minister, the planning should include:

  • Modern drainage systems
  • Adequate parking facilities
  • Commercial spaces
  • Infrastructure suited to changing lifestyles
  • Comprehensive urban planning

He also directed officials to prepare plans for constructing buildings of up to 10 floors wherever local conditions permit.

Focus on Comfortable and Dignified Living

Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said every design should ensure that poor families can live happily and with self-respect.

He instructed officials to give importance to Vastu considerations while designing:

  • Halls
  • Bedrooms
  • Kitchens
  • Bathrooms

The Minister emphasized that the housing units should be designed to meet the expectations and needs of beneficiary families.

Parking and Commercial Spaces to Be Included

The Minister directed officials to prepare designs that provide space for parking as well as shops.

He said these facilities would help improve the quality of life and support economic activities for residents.

The government wants to ensure that housing projects are not limited to residential units alone but provide facilities that support livelihoods and daily needs.

Houses to Be Built Within the Same Constituencies

Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy instructed officials to treat each constituency as a separate unit and construct houses for beneficiaries within their own constituencies.

He said the government’s goal is to provide housing without forcing people to move away from their existing livelihoods and social environments.

According to the Minister, people should be able to continue their occupations and maintain their established way of life even after moving into the new housing units.

Final Designs to Be Approved After Consultation with CM Revanth Reddy

The Minister directed officials to finalize the designs after discussions with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

He instructed departments to prepare a daily action plan and begin implementation on a war footing once the final designs are approved.

The government aims to ensure that the housing programme moves forward without delay.

Telangana Aims to Create a Model Urban Housing System

Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the Telangana Government is committed to providing housing security to every poor family living in urban areas.

He stated that the Urban Indiramma Housing Scheme is being developed as a model urban housing project that can serve as an example for the rest of the country.

According to the Minister, the scheme reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring safe, comfortable and dignified housing for the urban poor.

The Telangana Government has begun preparations for constructing 1 lakh Urban Indiramma Houses in the first phase across 24 constituencies under the CURE limits. During a review meeting with officials, Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy directed that the houses be designed to meet the needs of the next 40 to 50 years, include facilities such as drainage, parking and commercial spaces, and ensure dignified living for poor families.
