Heavy Rains in Hyderabad: VC Sajjanar Reviews Waterlogging at GRT Junction, Praja Bhavan

Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar inspected waterlogging points at GRT Junction, Somajiguda and Praja Bhavan areas amid city rains. Officials were directed to clear stagnant water and ensure smooth traffic movement.

Hyderabad: In view of the ongoing rains in the city, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, personally conducted a field inspection of waterlogging points at GRT Junction, Somajiguda, and the areas surrounding Praja Bhavan on Thursday night.

The Commissioner reviewed the situation on the ground and directed officials to take immediate measures to clear stagnant rainwater and ensure smooth movement of vehicles. Traffic police personnel have been instructed to remain available on the ground until waterlogging is completely cleared.

Senior Police Officials Accompany Hyderabad CP

During the inspection, the Commissioner was accompanied by:

  • Sri Joel Davis, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic)
  • Sri Avinash Kumar, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police
  • Other senior police officials

The team assessed the waterlogging situation caused by the continuous rainfall and reviewed measures being taken to address the issue.

Coordination With GHMC for Quick Water Removal

During the field visit, VC Sajjanar directed officials to coordinate closely with GHMC authorities to ensure the quick removal of water accumulated on roads.

The Commissioner instructed officials to:

  • Remove stagnant water from roads at the earliest
  • Ensure there is no inconvenience to vehicular movement
  • Take all necessary measures to maintain smooth traffic flow

Officials were asked to closely monitor the affected locations until normal conditions are restored.

Traffic Police Asked to Assist Commuters

The Hyderabad Police Commissioner instructed all traffic police personnel to remain on the ground and assist commuters until:

  • Rainfall subsides
  • Water accumulation on roads is completely cleared

The Commissioner emphasized the need for continuous field-level monitoring to help motorists and prevent traffic disruptions in rain-affected areas.

The inspection covered:

  • GRT Junction, Somajiguda
  • Areas surrounding Praja Bhavan

These locations experienced waterlogging following the rainfall in Hyderabad.
