Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha Orders New Transparent Medical Equipment Procurement Policy
Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha has directed TGMSIDC to introduce a transparent digital medical equipment procurement policy, appoint eight biomedical engineers, and strengthen monitoring in Telangana government hospitals.
Hyderabad: Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha has directed officials of the Telangana Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TGMSIDC) to prepare proposals for a new, transparent medical equipment procurement policy to ensure that quality medical equipment is supplied quickly and transparently to government hospitals. The directions were issued during a review meeting held at the TGMSIDC office in Koti on Friday.

Minister Reviews Medical Equipment Procurement System
During the review meeting, the Minister reviewed:
- Medical equipment procurement
- Tender process
- Working status of medical equipment
- Equipment maintenance
He instructed officials to strengthen the procurement system so that quality medical equipment reaches government hospitals within the stipulated time.
New Digital Procurement System Proposed
Damodar Rajanarasimha directed officials to prepare proposals for a new procurement policy that gives priority to transparency and digitalisation.
He said all future purchases should follow a uniform standard operating procedure.
The Minister also instructed officials to completely digitalise the procurement process by introducing an end-to-end digital tool that tracks every stage—from indent to installation at hospitals—through an online system.
According to the Minister, the new system will improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency in medical equipment procurement.
Centralised Dashboard to Monitor Medical Equipment
The Health Minister directed officials to establish a strong monitoring mechanism to ensure that medical equipment installed in government hospitals remains operational at all times.
He instructed the department to develop a centralised dashboard to monitor the performance of medical equipment in all government hospitals across Telangana.
The dashboard should be reviewed by senior management once every 15 days, and immediate corrective action should be taken whenever required.
Strict Action Against Vendors Violating Maintenance Agreements
The Minister instructed officials to review the existing Comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract (CAMC) agreements.
He directed that the rules should be revised to impose strict penalties on vendors who fail to comply with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
He stressed that there should be no negligence in the maintenance of medical equipment.
Eight Biomedical Engineers to Be Appointed
To strengthen field-level monitoring of medical equipment across the state, the Minister directed the appointment of eight biomedical engineers.
The deployment plan includes:
- Four biomedical engineers for the Hyderabad Region
- One biomedical engineer each for the East Zone
- West Zone
- South Zone
- North Zone
The Minister said this would further strengthen equipment monitoring across Telangana.

- Director of Medical Education Narendra Kumar
- Director of Public Health Ravindra Naik
- Senior officials from various departments of TGMSIDC
