Hyderabad: Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) CV Anand conducted a comprehensive review of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (CSB), assessing how technology is being used for cybercrime prevention, investigation, and citizen assistance. During the review, he directed officials to upgrade software, improve data entry to enhance Telangana’s national rankings, and further strengthen AI-driven cyber policing.

DGP Reviews Cybercrime Prevention and Technology
CV Anand said the CSB Director and her team briefed him on the cybercrime landscape, key trends, figures, and technology adoption.
During his visit, he inspected:
- Cyber Lab
- Security Operations Centre
- Digital Forensic Unit
- AI-powered Cyber Call Centre
He observed that the AI-powered Cyber Call Centre can interact with cybercrime victims, capture critical information, and instantly alert the jurisdictional police station.
2025 Cybercrime Data Highlights Progress and Challenges
According to the DGP, Telangana’s cybercrime data for 2025 reflected both progress and continuing challenges.
Key figures include:
- Cybercrime complaints declined by 3%
- Financial losses reduced by nearly 20% compared to the previous year
- ₹279 crore was frozen (put on hold)
- Telangana registered 21,639 cybercrime FIRs
- These accounted for 44% of all cybercrime FIRs in India
- Cyber offences accounted for one in every four major crime FIRs in Telangana
- Cybercrime caused financial losses of ₹1,524 crore
CV Anand said the high number of FIRs reflects strong citizen reporting and proactive enforcement.

DGP Calls for Better National Rankings
The DGP said Telangana has been lagging behind on some parameters reviewed by the Prime Minister and the Government of India.
He directed officers to:
- Update software
- Properly feed data into systems
- Improve Telangana’s rankings at the national level
Focus on AI and Advanced Investigation
CV Anand warned that cybercriminals continue targeting citizens through:
- Investment frauds
- Trading scams
- Digital arrest scams
- Other sophisticated cyber frauds
He said these crimes rob ordinary families of their lifetime savings.
The DGP directed the Bureau to:
- Expand AI-driven citizen services
- Strengthen advanced analytics
- Improve specialised investigation capabilities
- Ensure officers continuously upgrade technological skills
- Support police units across Telangana in cybercrime investigations
He said, “Telangana must emerge as the national benchmark in cyber policing.”
Appeal to Citizens
CV Anand urged citizens to remain cautious against fraudulent offers.
He said:
“Cybercriminals often lure you on the promise of easy and high returns. So if an offer appears too good to be true, pause and verify.”
He also appealed to the public to report cyber fraud by calling the 1930 helpline.
