Apoorva Rao assumes historic role as first woman Joint Director of TSRTC

Hyderabad: K Apoorva Rao, IPS, took charge as the new Joint Director of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), at Bus Bhavan here on Tuesday.

Apoorva Rao, a 2014 batch IPS officer currently serving as CID and SP, was appointed to the position by the government on Monday.

Hailing from Hyderabad, she brings valuable experience from her previous roles as SP in Vanaparthi, Gadwala, and Nalgonda districts. Notably, this marks the first instance of a woman IPS officer being appointed as Joint Director of TSRTC.

TSRTC MD VC Sajjanar, IPS, extended congratulations to Ms Apoorva Rao on assuming the role of Joint Director of TSRTC. He urged her to work with commitment for the organization’s development and expressed gratitude to the Telangana State Government for recognizing the significance of the public transport system by appointing a woman IPS officer as Joint Director for the first time in TSRTC’s history.

Apoorva Rao, in response, thanked the government for her appointment and highlighted the successful implementation of the Mahalakshmi-women free bus facility scheme introduced by the Telangana government.

She pledged to enhance the effectiveness of the scheme and affirmed her support for the growth of TSRTC in the country’s public transport system. RTC officials joined in congratulating Apoorva Rao on her assumption of office.
