Ayush Malik, a resident of Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh who had earlier announced his conversion to Islam, has now claimed that he has returned to Sanatan Dharma (Hinduism). A video circulating widely on social media shows him participating in Hindu religious rituals and announcing his decision to re-embrace his ancestral faith.

Shamli: Ayush Malik, a resident of Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh who had earlier announced his conversion to Islam, has now claimed that he has returned to Sanatan Dharma (Hinduism). A video circulating widely on social media shows him participating in Hindu religious rituals and announcing his decision to re-embrace his ancestral faith.

In the video, Malik says that he chose to return to Hinduism of his own free will. According to him, the decision was influenced by the emotional distress faced by his parents, the concerns of his family, and his desire to remain with them.

“I had accepted Islam earlier, but now I am voluntarily returning to Hinduism. I want to live with my family and continue my life under their care and guidance,” Malik says in the video.

Meanwhile, Ayush Malik’s father, Deoraj Malik, has also stated that his son has formally returned to Sanatan Dharma. He had earlier filed a police complaint alleging that Chandni Qureshi and her father, Islam Qureshi, influenced Ayush to convert to Islam as part of a planned conspiracy and attempted to gain control over the family’s property.

Based on the complaint, Uttar Pradesh Police registered a case against Chandni Qureshi and Islam Qureshi under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Both were subsequently arrested. However, the case remains under investigation, and no court has delivered a final verdict.

According to the police, Ayush Malik, a Bachelor of Pharmacy graduate who helped manage his family’s medical store, first met Chandni Qureshi in 2018 while undergoing treatment for a leg injury. The two later developed a relationship.

The FIR alleges that in 2023 Ayush was taken to Delhi, where he converted to Islam, adopted the name Mohammad Ali, and underwent a nikah ceremony. However, investigators have stated that no official marriage certificate relating to the alleged nikah has been recovered during the investigation.

Police said the investigation is continuing from all angles. The viral video of Ayush Malik announcing his return to Hinduism has once again brought the case into the public spotlight, sparking renewed discussion on social media and in political circles.
