BJP leader meets Nagaraju’s widow; speculations rife for BJP ticket for Ashrin

Hyderabad: BJP leader Vivek Venkataswamy met Ashrin Sultana, wife of Nagaraju who was killed in public view last week by Ashrin’s brother for marrying his sister against family’s wishes.

Though it seemed to be the case of personal vengeance, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is working hard to hijack the issue for political gains and the party’s state leadership is reportedly trying to win over Syed Ashrin Sultana, alias Pallavi, so that at an appropriate time she could be given a ticket to contest in the elections from somewhere in Telangana. Siasat.com observed.

If sources are to be believed, she may be fielded from the constituency where there is substantial number of dalits.

Since the unfortunate incident took place, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been trying to draw maximum political mileage through the case. Even though the Muslim leaderships including the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen’s (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi vociferously condemned the incident and termed it an act that is against “Islamic teachings”, some BJP leaders even tried to create religious animosity by giving it a communal colour.

Issuing a statement, BJP Telangana president Bandi Sanjay said, “It is purely a communal incident and we want the government to expose the communal elements behind the murder.”

BJP wants to utilize the opportunity to win over the Dalit community by showcasing the murder as a “Dalit – Muslim” issue. It is allegedly trying to win over Dalits by dubbing the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party as a “Muslim friendly party”.
