Hyderabad: Asaduddin Owaisi, President of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen in Hyderabad and MP, reacted to a video showing a police officer in Delhi kicking and hitting worshippers performing prayers on the street.
Asad Owaisi stated that this incident has shocked everyone and highlights the lack of respect for Muslims. He criticized the central government, stating that the capital, Delhi, is under the jurisdiction of the Home Minister, Amit Shah, for law and order.
Speaking to media representatives, Asad Owaisi said, “I want to ask our Prime Minister and BJP leaders, who was the Muslim man who was humiliated while praying? What is his background? Why is such disrespect happening to the 17 crore Muslims of India, who constitute more than 14% of the country’s population?”
In a tweet in Hindi, Asad Owaisi mentioned that the police officer who kicked worshippers has been suspended, but it took a lot of courage because mistreating Muslims has become a matter of pride for a certain class in society.
He further added, “After this incident, the morale of the police will increase, and Shahid BJP will make him their candidate. Those who are supposed to protect the rights of the streets should know that Muslims used to pray on vacant plots with permission from Muslim police officers, but this fact was not acceptable to the Singh’s.”
Many religious and non-religious people use streets for cultural purposes, but prayer is condemned because hatred against Islam has become common.
It should be noted that this incident occurred on Friday when Delhi Police Inspector Manoj Kumar Tomar kicked and beat worshippers praying on a street in North Delhi.
After the video of this incident went viral on social media, individuals from various backgrounds, political leaders expressed disappointment at the inhumane act of the police inspector. Following this incident, local residents protested against Delhi Police, leading to the immediate suspension of Inspector Tomar.
A local resident, Faraz Khan, informed journalists that prayers are usually held inside mosques, but on Fridays, the number of worshippers increases, leading some to pray on the streets.
