Bolero Swept Away in Veligonda Project Floodwaters, Rescue Teams Save Three

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred late on Monday evening when four residents of Kalanuthala village in Peddaraveedu mandal ventured out to collect banana stems. Despite officials evacuating villages affected by the rising floodwaters, the group reportedly travelled towards the area around 7 p.m.
While crossing a stream on their way, the Bolero vehicle was caught in the powerful current and swept away. One person went missing along with the vehicle, while the other three managed to climb nearby trees to escape the surging water.

After receiving information about the incident, rescue personnel immediately reached the spot. The rescuers safely brought the three stranded individuals down from the trees and moved them to safety.
Search operations are continuing to locate the missing person and the swept-away vehicle. Authorities have urged residents to avoid entering streams and flooded areas, particularly when water levels and currents are high.
The Veligonda Project was recently inaugurated by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and water released from the project has been flowing towards Nallamala Sagar.
