Hyderabad: Leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) conducted agitations across all constituencies on Wednesday, urging the state government to implement the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) without any charges.
As part of this initiative, BRS Party leaders staged a dharna at the HMDA office in Ameerpet, demanding the exemption of fees for LRS. Former Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, MLA Vivekananda Goud, Secunderabad Parliament Incharge Talasani Sai Kiran Yadav, and city leaders actively participated in the dharna.
Addressing the gathering, Talasani expressed concerns that the state government was plotting to impose a financial burden on 25 lakh families. He claimed that a substantial financial burden of Rs 20,000 crores would be placed on the economically disadvantaged.
He accused the Congress party of conspiring against the welfare of the poor. Talasani Srinivas Yadav affirmed their commitment to the cause, stating that they would not withdraw their protest until the abolition of LRS.
City MLAs also staged protests in front of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) against LRS, insisting on its implementation without any fees. BRS MLAs joined the demonstration, brandishing flags, while heavy police deployment was witnessed.
BRS Corporators, seeking the fee-free implementation of LRS, reached the GHMC office in Kukatpally but were denied a meeting with the Zonal Commissioner. This led to a confrontation between the police and BRS Corporators, resulting in a few women sustaining injuries.
