In a groundbreaking move for Telangana, the voting experience is set to become more transparent with the introduction of the ‘queue live’ initiative by Hyderabad district election wing officials. This innovative approach allows voters to track the number of people in line at polling stations, a first-of-its-kind effort in the region.
The initiative will be integrated into the ‘My GHMC’ app and the GHMC website. All polling stations across the 15 assembly constituencies in the district will feature the queue live function, providing voters with real-time information on the crowd at their respective polling stations on November 30.
Hyderabad Collector and Deputy District Election Officer Anudeep Durishetty explained that a designated presiding or sectoral officer will manage the live queue at each booth on the polling day, updating the voter count every hour. Voters can access the information by clicking on a URL link either on the website or within the app. The system not only displays the estimated time for queue completion but also allows voters to check the rush before heading to the polling station.
Upon opening the URL, voters can view the live queue and select details such as constituency and polling station name. Additionally, the ‘queue live’ feature provides guidance on reaching the polling station through Google Maps, with a corresponding link available in the app and website. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and efficiency in the voting process, empowering voters with crucial information to plan their visit to the polling station effectively.
