Telangana SIR Update: 78.14% Enumeration Forms Digitised; Hyderabad at 58.58%

Hyderabad: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana has entered a crucial stage, with 26,430,494 Enumeration Forms (EFs) digitised out of 33,826,448 forms distributed across the state, taking the overall digitisation rate to 78.14%, according to the status report dated August 9, 2026, at 6 PM.

The figures show that while the state has made substantial progress in digitising voter records, there is still a significant gap between districts. All 33,826,448 Enumeration Forms have been distributed, representing 100% distribution across Telangana.

The Hyderabad district, which has one of the state’s largest elector populations, has recorded a digitisation rate of 58.58%. Out of 4,736,669 electors, forms corresponding to 2,774,687 voters have been digitised. This places Hyderabad among the districts with the lowest digitisation levels in the state.

The district-wise figures show considerable variation. Yadadri Bhuvanagiri has emerged as the best-performing district, with 94.30% of its Enumeration Forms digitised. Medak stands at 90.54%, while Suryapet has reached 90.43%. Other districts with high progress include Jangaon at 91.69%, Mahabubabad at 90.07%, and Jagtiyal at 89.60%.

At the other end of the table, Medchal-Malkajgiri has recorded 63.82% digitisation, followed by Rangareddy at 64.91%. Hyderabad stands at 58.58%, making it the lowest among the districts listed in the status report.

The SIR exercise is aimed at verifying and updating electoral rolls so that eligible voters are included while inaccurate, duplicate, shifted or otherwise ineligible entries can be identified. The Election Commission’s stated objective is to ensure that no eligible citizen is left out while no ineligible person is included in the electoral roll.

Hyderabad remains a major focus

The relatively low digitisation percentage in Hyderabad is significant because of the district’s large electorate. Recent reports have also highlighted the challenge of completing the process in Hyderabad, with voters being urged to submit their Enumeration Forms before the extended deadline.

The latest state-level status therefore presents a mixed picture: Telangana as a whole has crossed the 78% digitisation mark, but several major urban districts are still considerably behind the state average.

As per the status report, the statewide total stands at 33,826,448 electors, with 26,430,494 forms digitised and 7,395,954 forms yet to be reflected as digitised.

The district-wise progress is expected to remain under close watch as election officials work to complete the remaining digitisation and verification process. The SIR process involves house-to-house enumeration through Booth Level Officers, followed by preparation of the draft electoral roll.
