CPI (M) to contest on two seats in parliamentary elections

Hyderabad: CPM state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram today said that their party would contest in two MP seats in the state in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

CPI(M) state secretariat and state committee meetings were held on 9th and 10th at MB Bhavan in Hyderabad. The politburo members of the party BV Raghavulu and Vijayaraghavan were present. The meeting discussed the post-poll political situation in the state, upcoming Lok Sabha elections and other issues.

In a statement, Veerabhadram said that his party had extended support to the trade unions, farmers and agricultural trade unions announced their support for the nationwide strike and grameen bandh scheduled to be held on On February 16. “We appeal to the workers to work hard to make this event a success and make it a success for all the people.

The fight for houses and house sites is continuing in various districts of the state.  The meeting decided to extend full support to this struggle and support the slum dwellers. We demand that the cases filed against those involved in this struggle should be dropped immediately and necessary steps should be taken to immediately allot them to the poor who do not have houses and plots of land.  It has decided to focus on the issue of minimum wages for workers,” he said.            

He said that they would finalise the names of very soon after discussions with the local district committees.
