Baig had made threatening remarks towards Revanth Reddy’s convoy after Reddy referred to AIMIM as a B-team of the BJP.

In a statement released on Monday, Sameer condemned Baig’s disrespectful behavior, stating that Baig had resorted to physical threats and stooped to the level of a rowdy.

He assured that Congress workers were capable of responding fittingly if MIM workers engaged in such cheap tactics. However, Sameer clarified that the Congress party does not endorse politics based on violence and intimidation.

He further clarified that the Congress party has never formed an alliance with the BJP for the sake
of positions or power.

Sameer pointed out that Baig was attempting to target the entire Congress party by highlighting an isolated incident from 2020 when some Congress councilors formed an understanding with the BJP to seize the posts of municipal Chairman and Vice-Chairman from the BRS party.

Sameer emphasized that the BRS party and BJP had alliances in several municipalities to keep the Congress party out of power.

He questioned why AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi continued his alliance with the BRS party
and did not request Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to sever ties with the BJP in those municipalities.

Sameer also highlighted that MIM had never objected to the BRS party supporting the BJP government at the Centre on important issues such as CAA, NRC, Triple Talaq Bill, or during
the elections of the President and Vice-President.

Referring to Rahmat Baig as immature, the Congress leader stated that the MIM MLC lacked the stature to speak about the TPCC President.

He argued that instead of targeting the Congress party, the MIM should first explain what steps it
has taken for the development of the Old City.

Sameer raised concerns about declining literacy rates, high unemployment rates, and the lack of basic civic amenities in the Old City.
He pointed out that the only public hospital available, Osmani General Hospital, faced funding shortages, forcing residents to spend their hard-earned money on private hospitals, which interestingly were run by AIMIM leaders.
Sameer challenged Baig to explain how many poor families in the Old City had received double-bedroom houses provided by the State Government.
He alleged that a significant number of poor families in the Old City lived in slums without proper facilities and were trapped under private financiers.
He criticized Baig for attempting to divert attention from public issues by targeting the TPCC President and demanded an explanation as to why the MIM had failed to secure Metro Rail connectivity for the Old City in the past nine years, despite claims of being an ally of the BRS
and Asaduddin Owaisi’s control over the BRS.
Sameer warned MIM leaders to be cautious when speaking about the Congress party and its
leaders, asserting that they were fully capable of delivering a fitting response in the same
language and tone.
