The schedule for the Lok Sabha polls is likely to be announced in the next 15 to 20 days, Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Electoral Officer P K Pole said on Saturday.

New Delhi: The schedule for the Lok Sabha polls is likely to be announced in the next 15 to 20 days, Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Electoral Officer P K Pole said on Saturday.
Pole said this after reviewing the poll preparations for the Anantnag Lok Sabha seat.
“Within 15 to 20 days, the Election Commission will notify the schedule for the Lok Sabha polls,” the CEO said while talking to reporters in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
He said the security environment has improved in Jammu and Kashmir over the last few years.
“There are still (security) challenges. We had requisitioned additional security forces for the polls and they along with our force locally stationed here would be deployed according to the norms set forth by the ECI,” he said, adding that they would ensure free, fair, peaceful, and transparent elections.
Pole said the administration would ensure that the voter turnout for the polls should be better than in the previous elections.
The CEO chaired a comprehensive meeting of district commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police of Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama, and Shopian to review the preparation for the Lok Sabha Election in Anantnag Parliamentary Constituency.
During the meeting, he was briefed by District Election Officers (DEOs) of respective districts, regarding the various arrangements made by the administration for the smooth conduct of the electoral process within the parliamentary constituency.
