Mahabubabad: Tension prevailed at the Government Hospital in Mahabubabad after the father of a four-year-old boy alleged that hospital staff dispensed an expired medicine to his child, sparking an argument with the staff.

According to the family, Murali, a resident of Indira Nagar Colony in Mahabubabad, took his four-year-old son, Enos Raj, to the Government Hospital after the child developed vomiting and loose stools.

Doctors reportedly examined the child in the outpatient department (OP) and prescribed two syrups. Hospital staff provided one of the prescribed syrups from the hospital pharmacy and advised the family to purchase the other medicine from outside.

After returning home, Murali checked the label on the syrup before administering it to his son and found that it had allegedly expired in June 2026.

Shocked by the discovery, he returned to the hospital and questioned the staff about how an expired medicine had been issued. This led to a heated argument between the father and hospital personnel.

Expressing his anger, Murali asked, “Should a child die if expired medicine is given?” He demanded strict action against those responsible and called for greater vigilance in the storage and distribution of medicines at government hospitals.

Hospital authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the incident. The matter has raised concerns over quality control and patient safety in government healthcare facilities.
