Hyderabad: Chemical blast in Afzalgunj claims life

Hyderabad:  young man died and his father sustained injuries in a suspected chemical blast in Hyderabad’s Maharajgunj area of Afzalgunj on Sunday morning. The incident which happened at Maharajgunj area in Hyderabad in Mogaram Basti under Afzalgunj police station limits at 10 am created panic in the area.

The deceased Bharath Bhatter was running a chemical business. He had been disposing expired chemicals into a drain in front of his shop. On Sunday morning, the blast occurred when he tried to clear the choked drainline with the iron rod, after he had stuffed loads of expired chemicals in the manhole. India Today reported.

While Bharath died on the spot due to the chemical blast, his father Venugopal and another man sustained injuries. They are undergoing treatment at Osmania General Hospital. Venugopal’s condition is said to be critical.

The police and forensic team rushed to the spot. They collected the chemicals and sent them to a forensic lab for examination. A case has been booked and investigation is underway.
