Hyderabad: A first information report (FIR) has been registered against Heera Gold Exim Limited promoter Nowhera Shaikh for allegedly impersonating Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO). Navi Mumbai police have registered a FIR against her.

Accused of running a ponzi scheme into thousands of crores, Nowhera and Heera Gold are under the scanner of several agencies, including Enforcement Directorate and SFIO. She and her companies duped investors after luring them to invest in gold saving schemes.

Based on a complaint filed by SFIO senior assistant director Ramesh, NRI Coast Police station of Central Business District (CBD) of Belapur has registered the case under Section 170 read with 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Alleging that Nowhera Shaikh and her employees were displaying SFIO posters in cubicles at their Heera Office at CBD Belapur, SFIO in the complaint revealed that the accused were trying to impersonate SFIO. SFIO is an agency which has a mandate to investigate serious cases of fraud, direct and supervise prosecutions under various economic legislations through appropriate agencies.
