Hyderabad: Himayat Ali Mirza, the great grandson of Mir Osman Ali Khan, the last Nizam of Hyderabad has expressed concern over the ownership fight for the King Kothi Palace, the official residence of the 7th and the last Nizam.
He announced on Sunday that he will file a case in Telangana High Court seeking stay to stop the possible demolition of King Kothi.
Seeking a CBI probe into the alleged sale of Nizam’s property, he said the King Kothi palace was dear to the Nizam as he lived there since he was 13 years old and breathed his last in the palace. He further revealed that Mir Osman Ali Khan was buried in Masjid-e-Judi, a few yards away from the palace.
While the Nizam’s Trust is silent over the dispute, two real estate firms are claiming ownership over the structure.
Himayat Ali said he would not keep quiet if the King Kothi palace is demolished as he is emotionally attached to it. He disclosed that his grandfather Moazzam Jah was married in the palace and so many politicians and VVIPs including, Pandit Nehru, Sardar Patel, Indira Gandhi, several presidents, the king of Saudi Arabia, British royal family members had visited the palace to meet the Nizam.
While seeking orders to stop demolition of any part of the Palace, Nizam’s great grandson wanted the palace to be converted into a hospital for free treatment of people. He also asked to name it Nizam’s Hospital.
After young Osman Ali Khan expressed his desire to possess it, the Nizam VI, Mahboob Ali Pasha had purchased the palace from a noble, Kamal Khan.
