Hyderabad: Minister for Excise and Tourism Jupally Krishna Rao has demanded that former minister Harish Rao resign from his MLA post for taking a responsibility that huge scale corruption has been taken place during the execution of the Kaleshwaram project.
“The BRS leaders are saying that there was no corruption during the BRS regime. Former minister Harish Rao should tell whether there was any corruption or not during the execution of irrigation projects. He should resign from the MLA post immediately as per his self-consciousness,” Jupally said.
Taking part in the debate on the white paper on the irrigation projects, Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said that people are not in a position to believe the words of BRS leaders on the Kaleshwaram project and lies cannot become truth just by speaking loudly.
“Large-scale irregularities were taken place at the stage of tenders and some contractors were awarded low-cost tenders aimed at giving undue benefits.
It was very strange that all the contractors had quoted less than one percent of the 300 tenders that have been called for tenders worth Rs.1,80,000 crores,” he pointed out.
Krishna Rao also alleged that the Telangana state was met injustice during the previous BRS government in the matter of Krishna waters and BRS MLA Harish Rao did not read the complete letter written by then CMO Secretary Smitha Sabharwal to the Centre on the KRMB issue. (NSS)
