According to sources, Kailash Ahirwal carried his pregnant wife, Kajal, from their home to Arogya Kendra run by the local government for treatment on push-cart. The incident occurred on Tuesday in Raneh village, 60 km away from the district headquarters.

It is alleged that since no doctor or nurse was present there to attend the patient for almost two hours, Kailash immediately took his wife to the civil hospital, from where she was referred to Damoh District Hospital.

Kailash Ahirwal said that he first called 108 ambulance when his wife Kajal had labor pains, but when there was no arrangement for a vehicle for two hours, he laid his wife on a vegetable push-cart and took her to the local health center. But there she did not get treatment. He then took his wife to the civil hospital and was later taken to the district hospital by ambulance.

Dr. RP Kori, block medical officer (BMO) of Civil Hospital Hatta, said he had come across the video and an inquiry will be conducted. An investigation is being done, regarding non-availability of staff in the hospital, by giving notice to the employees posted on the duty.

Authorities have started an inquiry after a video showing the husband of a pregnant woman carrying her to hospital on a push-cart emerged on social media.
