Migrant Help Desk launched at RGI Airport to guide workers travelling to Middle East
Available at the international departure terminal, the Migrant Help desk will work round the clock.
Hyderabad: A 24×7 Migrant Help Desk has been launched at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday.
The GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), in partnership with Telangana Overseas Manpower Company Limited (TOMCOM) has launched help desk which is dedicated to vulnerable migrants travelling abroad, especially to Kuwait and Qatar.
Rani Kumudini, Special Chief Secretary, Telangana inaugurated the migrant help desk which would function on a trial basis now. Present on the occasion were GHIAL CEO Pradeep Panicker, and other senior officials from the airport community. Telangana Today reported.
The desk will raise awareness about safe and legal migration and will help and guide vulnerable migrants like domestic workers, housemaids and labourers to name a few. Guidance will be provided regarding the proper documentation and paperwork needed for emigration clearance.
Available at the international departure terminal, the Migrant Help desk will work round the clock.
Claiming that there was a gradual rise of outbound migrant workforce travelling from Hyderabad to the Middle-East in the last few years, Pradeep Panicker said, “Quite often, most of these migrant workers are ignorant of the procedures and documentation needed for emigration clearance and other purposes.” He asserted, “The presence of a dedicated migrant help desk will help in scrutinizing the documents of the travellers, impart awareness, and guide the passengers in emigration clearance.”
