Muslim youth donate loudspeaker to Hanuman temple
The local Muslim community has been taking care of the temple premises for a long time.
Kolhapur: Muslim youths of Hanuman Nagar in Sangli donated a loudspeaker to a Hanuman temple. They did so after learning that the temple did not have loudspeaker to play the morning prayers and Hanuman Chalisa.
Located at Hanuman Nagar in Sangli city, Maharudra Hanuman Mandir is a small temple. According to the temple authorities, the local Muslim community has been taking care of the temple premises for a long time.
Some septuagenarians who had carried out sapling plantation drives here when they were young, were also present while donating the loudspeaker to the temple.
A Muslim named Ayub Pathan started the Muslim Yuva Parishad. His objective was to ensure that the Muslim youths are not taken undue advantage of by politicians using religion.
Times of India quoted Ayub Pathan as saying, “Many from my community came forward to help. A lot of us have grown up listening to the morning prayers played through a small audio player. Many members of the Hindu community like our Azaan as well. There should be no objection to loudspeakers put atop temples or mosques if the volume is within the limit. Prayers make the mind peaceful.”
Seeing that the communal harmony of the country is at stake, Pathan’s organisation decided to welcome the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers with sharbat and sheer khurma, after its chief Raj Thackeray gave an ultimatum to remove loudspeakers from mosques and asked MNS workers to play Hanuman Chalisa in front of mosques.
