To maintain law and order, authorities deployed drones for surveillance in multiple locations, officials said. Senior officers had already formulated a comprehensive security plan, instructing ACPs and SHOs to stay vigilant and remain in constant contact with their sources.
Patrolling was intensified across several districts, including North, North-East, South-East, Shahdara, and East Delhi. Informers were also activated to preempt any possible disturbances, a senior police officer stated.
Night Patrolling Strengthened
“Ensuring peace is our priority. We have implemented extensive security arrangements and safety measures across districts,” another senior officer said, adding that night patrolling had also been reinforced.
Parliament Passes Waqf Bill Amid Opposition Criticism
The Rajya Sabha approved the Waqf Bill after a heated 13-hour debate, with 128 members supporting it and 95 opposing it. The Lok Sabha had passed the bill earlier on Thursday with a 288-232 vote.
Opposition parties strongly criticized the bill, calling it “anti-Muslim” and “unconstitutional.” However, the government defended the legislation, asserting that the “historic reform” would benefit the minority community.
