President Approved Uniform Civil Code Bill in Uttarakhand

The President has approved the Uniform Civil Code Bill in Uttarakhand through a special session of the assembly presented by the government led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Dehradun: The President has approved the Uniform Civil Code Bill in Uttarakhand through a special session of the assembly presented by the government led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

In this context, a notification was issued on Thursday by Governor Major General (Retired) Gurmeet Singh on behalf of the President. Expressing his happiness, Dhami tweeted upon the issuance of the notification.

Issued on Tuesday afternoon by the Raj Bhawan, this notification under Article 201 of the ‘Constitution of India’, the President has approved the ‘Uniform Civil Code, Uttarakhand, 2024 Bill’ on March 11, 2024, and it is published for general information as Uttarakhand Act Number 03 of 2024.

After the President’s approval of the UCC, the Chief Minister said, “This is a moment of great joy and pride for all the people of the state that President Droupadi Murmu has approved the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill from the floor of the Uttarakhand Assembly by our government.”

Dhami further stated, “Undoubtedly, with the enforcement of the Uniform Civil Code law, along with providing equal rights to all citizens in the state, it will also curb the injustices against women. The Uniform Civil Code will play a significant role in promoting harmony by proving the importance of social equality in the state.”

He said, “According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, our government is determined to preserve the interests of citizens and maintain the true essence of Uttarakhand.”
