Raj polls: BJP takes lead after initial rounds of counting

As per the data of the Election Commission of India (ECI) among others Bharat Adivasi Party is leading on 5 seats seats, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Communist Party of India (Marxist) are leading on 2 seats each, and Independent candidates are in pole position in 6 seats.

Jaipur: The main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken an early lead with its candidates ahead in 91 seats after initial rounds of counting for the Rajasthan Assembly elections on Sunday.

The ruling Congress is leading in 69 seats.

As per the data of the Election Commission of India (ECI) among others Bharat Adivasi Party is leading on 5 seats seats, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Communist Party of India (Marxist) are leading on 2 seats each, and Independent candidates are in pole position in 6 seats.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is leading by a margin of 5,759 votes over his nearest rival Prof Dr Mahendra Rathore of BJP in the Sardarpura constituency. Former deputy CM and Congress candidate Sachin Pilot is trailing by 230 votes in the Tonk constituency.

Former CM and BJP candidate Vasundhara Raje is leading by a margin of 10,161 votes over her nearest rival Ramlal of Congress after the third round of counting.
