Anumula Revanth Reddy, Telangana Congress chief credited with leading the party to a thumping win in the November 30 Assembly polls, will be the state's next Chief Minister.
Hyderabad: Anumula Revanth Reddy, Telangana Congress chief credited with leading the party to a thumping win in the November 30 Assembly polls, will be the state’s next Chief Minister.
Sources have said the Congress central leadership, led by party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, has taken the decision.
The Congress was forced to delay the swearing-in of the new government in the state after some of its senior leaders are said to have objected to TPCC president Revanth Reddy’s name as chief minister.
Karnataka deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar and other AICC observers went to Delhi in a special flight on Monday with the details of the opinions of the 64 MLAs, which was taken in a one-on-one meeting at a private hotel at Gachibowli.
Sources said that some of the legislators named former CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Uttam Kumar Reddy and Sridhar Babu as possible CMs.
However, a majority of the MLAs threw their weight behind Telangana Congress president Revanth Reddy, said a leader privy to the developments.
