Hyderabad: Gaddar, the renowned Indian poet and activist whose stage name was Gummadi Vittal Rao, passed away at the age of 77 on Sunday, August 6. He had been battling severe heart disease and was under treatment at Apollo Hospital. Often hailed as the ‘People’s Singer,’ he garnered much admiration for his impactful work. Following his demise, condolences poured in on Twitter, with the Telangana Congress expressing their heartfelt sorrow: “We are deeply saddened by the unexpected loss of Sri Gummadi Vittal Rao, also known as Gaddar. A prominent poet and revolutionary balladeer, his resonating voice captured the essence of Telangana. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time. May they find the strength to cope.”
