Sati hijab comparison takes twitter by storm
Sati was denounced while hijab being defended
Hindu outlawed tradition Sati in which the widow was burnt along with the corpse of her husband and Muslim hijab tradition which has recently been made controversial by the Hindu right-wing elements, is being compared by Twitterati after a twitter user named Aakar Patel sarcastically posted, “hijab is oppressive sati is honourable”
Responding to it a user states, “Sati has been rejected but hijab is being fought for”
Another one observes, “Hijab and sati are not comparable and should not be compared in any way. One is a piece of cloth over the head and other is outright murder.”
A user with twitter id Logical Hindu notes, “Sati is banned and is a criminal offence, while Hijab isn’t .”
One Sattar Farooqui points out, “Sati snatched Life & Dignity of women, While Hijab Enhances Dignity of women One Bright Example is Kannada Girl Bushra Mateen getting 16 gold medals in Hijab #Hijab Empowers”
He shared another video asserting, “Sati used to take away Life & Dignity of a woman who became a widow; Whereas Hijab Enhances honour of a woman, that’s why Hijab is A Universal Practice Across the Globe….
#HijabIsEmpowerment”
One user compares sati and hijab thus, “SATI: Burn her up 2. HIJAB: Cover her up(so that men may not disrespect her)”
Anup states, “Sati is a cold blooded murder & abolished. Hijab is a piece of cloth to cover head, upper part of shoulder. All are related to women. Hijab like clothes are used by many, irrespective of religions, viz Ghungut, scarf etc. Don’t bother for these. Concentrate on real development.”
Varsha says, “When these andhbhagts are going to stop making foolish comparisons!!! They are comparing#Sati & #Hijab. In Sati pratha, life of a living woman was sacrificed. However, Hijab is just a cloth. It is not taking lives. Why you can allow a dupatta but not the same cloth on the head!”
Saying that while sati has been denounced and hijab defended by their followers a user observes, “Sati has been denounced for 200 years by women themselves. Hijab is vehemently defended by elite Muslim women while not so well women take beating for not wearing it. Yeh hai aapka women empowerment?”
