Hyderabad:  Advisor to the Telangana Government (SC, ST, BC & Minorities) Mohammed Ali Shabbir assured that the Congress Government is committed to fulfilling all the promises made to various sections of society.

Shabbir Ali assumed office as the Advisor to the Telangana Government in a simple ceremony at the Dr B R Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat on Saturday. The event saw the presence of several eminent personalities, including Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao, Special Representative of Telangana Govt in Delhi Dr Mallu Ravi, senior leaders of the Congress party, heads of religious and social organizations, family members and others who extended their greetings on his appointment.

Addressing the media, Shabbir Ali expressed gratitude to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for appointing him as the Advisor to the Government and entrusting him with the responsibility of overseeing the welfare of four significant communities – SC, ST, BC, and Minorities, constituting nearly 85% of the total population in Telangana.

He emphasized his commitment to carrying out his duties with fairness and dedication. “In 2004, as the Cabinet Minister in the Congress Govt headed by Dr Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy, I played a crucial role in giving 4% Muslim reservation. This time I got the opportunity to serve not only the minorities but also the SC, ST and BC communities. I will use my experience and expertise to ensure the welfare of all four communities,” he said.

He highlighted that the Congress party, in addition to providing six guarantees, had issued separate declarations for the welfare of SC, ST, BC, and Minority communities. He stated his intention to consult all stakeholders, including State Government officials, representative organizations from all communities, and other experts.

The aim is to compile all promises and categorize them based on their nature, such as financial, policy matters, legislation, etc., for clarity. He said that he would submit suggestions to the Chief Minister on how to fulfill these promises, and subsequently, deadlines or priorities for implementation would be set.

The Advisor asserted that the Congress party thoroughly studied and consulted with stakeholders before including promises in the manifesto, ensuring practicality and feasibility. Shabbir Ali reassured the public that every promise made by Congress during Assembly elections would be honoured. He urged people not to be swayed by opposition propaganda, specifically from the BRS party.

Shabbir Ali noted that the Congress Government had already implemented two out of the six guarantees within two days of assuming power. He also shared Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s announcements of two additional promises, including a gas cylinder for Rs 500 and free power for up to 200 units in the near future. He said that the Congress Government was committed to honouring all promises and ensuring justice for all sections of society.
