New Delhi: Once again Shaheen Bagh won against oppressive forces when an anti-encroachment drive was halted after the bulldozers rolled into Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh today.
While shouting slogans, local residents of Shaheen Bagh stood in front of bulldozers forcing the SDMC officials to return.
As the bulldozers rolled into the area in the presence of a huge number of police personnel, hundreds of people including women protested opposing the anti-encroachment drive. The SDMC officials returned with the bulldozers, following the protests, without carrying out the exercise.
Once again #shaheenbagh has won against oppressive forces. Bulldozers and police both have left Shaheen Bagh. #shaheenbagh will remain biggest symbol of Democratic Protest against totalitarian forces.
The protestors alleged “targeted demolitions” in the area and protested against it.
While stopping the bulldozer drive, AAP’s Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan said he had got all illegal structures removed already and none were left.
Shaheen Bagh famously became the epicentre of the nationwide protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in 2019-2020.
