Teacher gets stuck in school lift, dies; Incident recorded on CCTV
The doors closed on her, as soon as she entered the lift. As a result, her head got badly crushed.
Mumbai: In an appalling incident, a 26-year-old teacher got stuck in a school lift and died.
The incident occurred on Friday at Chincholi Bunder in Malad, a suburb located in North Mumbai.
According to police, Jenel Fernandes, a teacher of St Mary’s English High School was waiting on the sixth floor to get to the staff room on the second floor at around 1 pm. The doors closed on her, as soon as she entered the lift. As a result, her head got badly crushed. The scene was recorded on CCTV.
The school staff rushed to rescue her and dragged her out but till then she was severely injured.
The school staff shifted her to a private hospital but the doctors declared her brought dead on arrival.
On the basis of primary investigation, police registered an accidental death report. But they are also looking into other aspects like any foul play or negligence on part of school administration and will act accordingly.
