In a major initiative to strengthen public welfare systems, the Telangana government has announced “Welfare Week” from April 20 to April 26, 2026, across the state under the 99 Days Praja Palana Pragathi Pranaalika programme.

The announcement was made during a video conference chaired by Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao, who reviewed the implementation of the programme with District Collectors.

The Telangana Welfare Week 2026 aims to improve welfare institutions, hostels, residential schools, and student engagement, while ensuring better service delivery.

Day-Wise Activities Planned for Welfare Week in Telangana

Special Chief Secretary Sabyasachi Ghosh outlined a detailed schedule of activities to be implemented across all districts:

  • April 20: Cleanliness and sanitation drive in welfare institutions
  • April 21: Talent Fest including quiz, debate, and drawing competitions
  • April 22: Minor repairs and infrastructure planning in hostels and schools
  • April 23: Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) and student felicitation
  • April 24: Skill development programmes for youth
  • April 25: Summer camps with sports, arts, music, and digital learning
  • April 26: “Badi Baata” programme across institutions

Officials have been directed to ensure proper planning, execution, and monitoring of all activities.

Focus on Welfare Institutions, Students and Community Participation

The Telangana Welfare Week programme is designed to:

  • Strengthen welfare hostels and residential schools
  • Improve hygiene and infrastructure
  • Encourage student participation and talent development
  • Promote community involvement and awareness

Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao instructed District Collectors to ensure active supervision and wide participation in all events.

Officials Stress Monitoring and Public Awareness

Sabyasachi Ghosh directed officials to:

  • Monitor activities closely
  • Maintain proper documentation
  • Submit day-wise reports and final consolidated report

Meanwhile, Secretary Planning Gaurav Uppal emphasized the need for:

  • Public participation
  • Awareness of government welfare schemes
  • Transparency in implementation
