The Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are witnessing severe heatwave conditions, with Andhra Pradesh’s Palnadu district recording a maximum temperature of 48.1 degrees Celsius at Piduguralla. Officials warned that the heat intensity is likely to continue for the next week and advised people not to come out during afternoon hours unless it is urgent. The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has issued alerts as temperatures continue to rise across both states.

Severe Heatwave Grips Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
Summer heat has intensified sharply across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with several districts recording temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius. Authorities warned that the next week is likely to remain extremely hot, and people have been advised to avoid stepping out between 11 am and 4 pm unless necessary.
According to APSDMA Managing Director Shaik Madar Saheb and APSDMA MD Prakhar Jain, the heatwave is likely to continue till Monday, and citizens should remain alert and take precautions.
Piduguralla in Palnadu district recorded the highest temperature at 48.1 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
Andhra Pradesh Records Extreme Temperatures
Officials stated that 18 districts in Andhra Pradesh recorded temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius. Out of the 28 districts in the state, around 200 mandals in 20 districts witnessed temperatures above 44 degrees Celsius.

- 23 mandals in Prakasam district
- 22 mandals in Krishna district
- 21 mandals in Eluru district

Telangana also recorded extremely high temperatures. Khammam district recorded 46.2 degrees Celsius, while Ramagundam recorded 44.6 degrees Celsius. Nizamabad registered 44.4 degrees Celsius and Adilabad recorded 44.3 degrees Celsius.
According to the Meteorological Department, Telangana is likely to receive light to heavy rains for the next five days.
Officials Advise Precautions During Heatwave
Authorities advised people, especially elderly citizens, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and those suffering from cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and hypertension, to avoid exposure to the sun.
People were advised to drink plenty of water, lemon water, buttermilk, and coconut water to avoid dehydration.
Officials also warned people not to stand under trees during thunderstorms as light rains with thunderstorms are likely at isolated places in Alluri, Polavaram, Nellore, and Rayalaseema regions.
