Telangana Movement Activists Recognition Committee Holds First Meeting, All-Party Meeting Scheduled for June 4
The Telangana Movement Activists Recognition Committee, chaired by Dr. K. Keshava Rao, held its first meeting at the Secretariat and decided to convene an all-party meeting on June 4 to identify and honour Telangana movement activists.

Hyderabad: The committee constituted by the Telangana Government for the recognition and honouring of Telangana movement activists held its first meeting on Saturday at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat under the chairmanship of Dr. K. Keshava Rao. The committee discussed guidelines, procedures, and the collection of information related to Telangana movement activists. It also decided to convene an all-party meeting on June 4 to seek suggestions and recommendations.

The meeting was attended by committee members Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Government Whip Addanki Dayakar, MLC Professor M. Kodandaram, former MLC S. Ramulu Naik, and Mothe Shobhan Reddy, along with senior government officials.
Telangana Government Issued G.O.Rt.No.679 for Recognition of Movement Activists
The Telangana Government issued G.O.Rt.No.679 on the 15th of this month for the recognition and honouring of Telangana movement activists.
In accordance with the government order, the committee met for the first time at the Secretariat on Saturday to discuss its future course of action.
All-Party Meeting on June 4 to Seek Suggestions
The committee resolved to conduct an all-party meeting on June 4 and obtain valuable suggestions and recommendations from representatives of all political parties.
Committee Chairman Dr. K. Keshava Rao said the government’s objective is to identify and appropriately honour everyone who directly or indirectly participated in the Telangana statehood movement.
He instructed officials to formulate a transparent action plan for collecting details of martyr families and those who actively participated at the grassroots level during both the first and second phases of the Telangana movement, and to prepare a list of eligible persons.
Government Aims to Honour All Eligible Telangana Movement Participants
Speaking at the meeting, Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the government’s goal is to identify and honour all categories of Telangana movement participants.
He said the recognition process would include:
- Persons who underwent jail sentences during the movement
- Individuals against whom police cases were registered
- Intellectuals who participated in the movement
- Artists
- Writers
- Employees
- Journalists
- Advocates
- Students
- RTC workers
- Singareni workers
The minister stated that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy constituted the committee to recognize Telangana movement activists and ensure that their services and sacrifices receive appropriate respect and recognition from the state government.
Recommendations to Honour Telangana Movement Activists
The committee decided to make recommendations to the government to ensure suitable recognition and honour for activists who made significant contributions to the achievement of Telangana statehood.
Ponnam Prabhakar said the Praja Government is working in line with the aspirations of the people of Telangana. He emphasized that the information collection process should be transparent and free from criticism, ensuring that all eligible movement participants are identified and honoured appropriately.
