Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is steadfastly committed to enhancing the travel experience for passengers by incorporating innovative approaches and adapting to evolving trends in the transport sector.
In line with this commitment, TSRTC has announced the procurement of 1050 new advanced diesel buses, amounting to a total investment of Rs 400 crore for the current financial year.
The newly acquired buses will include 400 Express buses, 512 Palle Luvam buses, 92 Lahari Sleeper cum Seater buses, and 56 AC Rajdhani buses.
Additionally, TSRTC aims to contribute to environmental sustainability by introducing 540 eco-friendly electric vehicles in Hyderabad and deploying 500 buses across various regions in Telangana.
The phased rollout plan aims to make all these buses operational for passengers by March 2024. These additions to the fleet are expected to accommodate the increased demand stemming from the Mahalakshmi Women Free Bus Travel Scheme.
In an inaugural move, 80 new buses equipped with modern features will commence operations starting this Saturday. This batch includes 30 Express buses, 30 Rajdhani AC buses, and 20 Lahari sleeper cum seater (non-AC) buses.
The official inauguration ceremony for these buses is scheduled for Saturday (tomorrow) at 1000 hours at the Ambedkar statue on NTR Marg, Hyderabad. Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar will preside over the event as the chief guest, flagging off the new buses.
The ceremony will also witness the presence of Secretary of Transport, Roads, and Buildings Shri Srinivasa Raju, Commissioner of Transport Jyoti Buddha Prakash, IAS, along with TSRTC MD VC Sajjanar and other senior officers, as indicated in a TSRTC statement released on Friday.
