The India Meteorological Department (IMD) and Hyderabad Meteorological Centre have forecast light to moderate rainfall across most districts of Telangana over the next three days as the Southwest Monsoon continues to advance rapidly. Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in some districts on Friday and Saturday, while thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of up to 50-60 kmph are also expected. Temperatures across the state are likely to fall by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius during the next four days.

Southwest Monsoon Advances Further Across India

According to the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, the Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into:

  • Remaining parts of the Southwest and Southeast Arabian Sea
  • Some parts of the West-Central and East-Central Arabian Sea
  • Lakshadweep Islands
  • Additional parts of Kerala-Mahe
  • Some parts of Karnataka
  • Remaining parts of Tamil Nadu and Comorin Region
  • Southeast Bay of Bengal
  • Southwest, West-Central, East-Central and Northeast Bay of Bengal

The update was issued on June 4, 2026.

Meteorologists said conditions remain favorable for the monsoon to advance further into:

  • Some more parts of the Central Arabian Sea
  • Additional parts of Goa
  • More areas of Maharashtra
  • Andhra Pradesh
  • Karnataka
  • Remaining parts of Tamil Nadu
  • Southwest Bay of Bengal
  • More areas of the West-Central, East-Central and Northeast Bay of Bengal

during the next 2 to 3 days.

Weather Systems Influencing Telangana Rainfall

The Meteorological Department stated that a trough continues from the cyclonic circulation formed over the Marathwada region at an altitude of 5.8 km above mean sea level to the Southwest Arabian Sea through Konkan and Goa.

Officials also noted that the trough extending across South Telangana and adjoining Coastal Andhra Pradesh-Yanam was present at 05:30 hrs IST on Thursday.

The trough that existed yesterday at 1.5 km above mean sea level from West Uttar Pradesh to North Tamil Nadu through Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana, and Rayalaseema has weakened today.

The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has predicted:

  • Light to moderate rain at isolated places in most districts of Telangana on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
  • Gradual fall in maximum temperatures by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next four days

The rainfall is expected to provide relief from the recent heat conditions experienced across several parts of the state.
