Watch: Muslim student recites Hanuman Chalisa at Aligarh Muslim University
Bid to spread the message of communal harmony
Aligarh: A Muslim student of Aligarh Muslim University Fareed Mirza recited the Hanuman Chalisa and the Gayatri mantra on the campus.
The 24-year-old youth recited the Hindu devotional hymn in a bid to spread the message of communal harmony, amid the ongoing loudspeaker row.
Claiming that since childhood he is well acquainted with the Gayatri mantra, the BA second-year student asserted that he has no issue with either the Hindu religion or chanting of mantras but is against conflicts in the name of religion and the demand for removal of loudspeakers from mosques. Times of India reported.
UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday issued directives not to give permission to install loudspeakers at any new site. The directive came after the loud speaker row that is growing across different states. According to the directive, microphones can be used in religious programmes, but the sound should not be heard outside the premises so that inconvenience is not caused to others.
