3.8 Lakh Sheep-Units Distributed in First Phase: Telangana Animal Husbandry Minister
The Minister said a total of 3,80,878 sheep units have been distributed in the first phase. Government intends to distribute 3.5 lakh sheep units in the second phase.
Hyderabad: Telangana Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Monday informed the assembly that the state government has distributed a total of 3,80,878 sheep units (20 female and one male sheep as one unit) in the first phase.
Replying to questions raised by the members in the house during question hour, Mr Yadav said to strengthen the rural economy, the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has decided to encourage caste-based professions.
As part of it, the government has launched a sheep distribution programme in 2017. The Minister said a total of 3,80,878 sheep units have been distributed in the first phase. Government intends to distribute 3.5 lakh sheep units in the second phase, he added.
An amount of Rs 4780.44 crore (government subsidy (75 per cent) Rs 3585.33 crore and beneficiary share (25 per cent) Rs 1195.11 crore has been spent so far for the sheep distribution programme, the Minister said the present sheep population in the state is 1.91 crore.
