Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Orders 90% SIR Mapping Completion as ECI Prepares Special Intensive Revision Programme

Telangana CEO C. Sudharshan Reddy directed DEOs and EROs to complete 90 percent SIR mapping progress ahead of the Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision programme.

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy, IAS, on Monday conducted a video conference with all District Election Officers (DEOs) and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) programme being undertaken by the Election Commission of India (ECI). He directed officials to speed up the mapping process and achieve 90 percent progress by the end of this month ahead of the expected announcement of the SIR programme by the ECI.

Telangana CEO Holds Video Conference on SIR Programme

Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy, IAS, held a video conference on Monday with all District Election Officers (DEOs) and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) across the State.

The meeting focused on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) programme being undertaken by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Officials Directed to Achieve 90 Percent Mapping Progress

During the conference, the CEO instructed Collectors and DEOs to accelerate the voter mapping process.

He directed officials to ensure that 90 percent progress is achieved by the end of this month, as the Election Commission of India is expected to announce the SIR programme shortly.

Residential Associations and Gated Communities to Be Involved

The CEO instructed officials to involve residential associations and gated communities in the mapping exercise.

He also appealed to all government employees to voluntarily contact the concerned Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and complete their mapping process.

According to officials, BLO contact details are available on the Telangana CEO website.

Joint Visits to Gated Communities and Slum Areas

C. Sudharshan Reddy advised EROs, AEROs, BLO Supervisors and BLOs to jointly visit gated communities and slum areas.

He instructed them to involve local representatives and carry out the mapping exercise effectively.

Help Desks to Be Established for Voters

The CEO directed DEOs, EROs and supervisory-level officers to establish help desks to assist voters during the mapping process.

He also instructed officials to involve self-help groups, ration shop dealers and employee associations in the programme.

Focus on Deceased and Migrated Voters

The CEO said special focus should be placed on identifying deceased voters, migrated voters and those who have permanently changed addresses.

He instructed officials to take appropriate action according to Standard Operating Procedures (SoP).

He also directed officials to carry out mapping of VVIP and VIP voters in their respective constituencies.

Weekly Meetings with Political Parties Ordered

C. Sudharshan Reddy directed Collectors to ensure that EROs hold meetings with political parties every Wednesday to review the progress of SIR mapping.

Warning Against Sharing OTPs and Information

The CEO warned Booth Level Officers (BLOs) not to share any information or OTPs with unauthorized persons.

He stated that strict action would be taken against those violating the guidelines.

He clarified that assistance from Booth Level Agents (BLAs) should only be taken for identifying houses or voters.

Incorrect Mappings to Be Rectified Immediately

Officials were instructed to identify incorrect mappings and rectify them immediately.

The CEO also asked Collectors to undertake wide publicity of the SIR process through print and electronic media at the district level.

Officials Participating in the Conference

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Vasan Venkateshwar Reddy, IAS, Deputy CEO (I/C), nodal officers, project managers, technical staff and other officials participated in the video conference.
