Telangana Police Intensify POCSO Probe Against Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s Son Bandi Bhagirath

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police in Telangana have intensified the investigation into the POCSO case registered against Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s son, Bandi Bhagirath. Deputy Commissioner of Police Ritiraj visited Pet Basheerabad Police Station after being appointed to supervise the investigation into the alleged sexual assault case involving a 17-year-old girl.

DCP Ritiraj Reviews Investigation at Pet Basheerabad Police Station

Hours after being appointed to supervise the probe, DCP Ritiraj visited Pet Basheerabad Police Station in Hyderabad.

The DCP (Kukatpally) reviewed the case details and held discussions with the concerned Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and Station House Officer (SHO).

Later, speaking to the media, DCP Ritiraj said that further steps in the case were discussed with the ACP and SHO.

“We have drafted a plan of action, and we will proceed accordingly,” she said.

Victim’s Statement Recorded, More Information Needed

DCP Ritiraj said the victim’s statement had already been recorded, but the police required some more information.

She said she would speak to the victim again as part of the ongoing investigation.

The officer stated that police completed all necessary procedures, including documentation, after registering the POCSO case.

Police Analysing Call Detail Records

Hinting that the accused was absconding, the DCP said police would definitely arrest him if they locate him.

Police are currently gathering information about the accused by analysing his Call Detail Record (CDR).

CM Revanth Reddy Orders Immediate Investigation

Earlier, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed Director General of Police (DGP) C. V. Anand to immediately initiate an investigation into the POCSO case.

The Chief Minister instructed the DGP to constitute special teams for a comprehensive investigation into the alleged sexual assault on a minor girl by Bandi Bhagirath.

CM Revanth Reddy questioned the DGP over the delay in taking action despite the complaint being lodged on May 8 at Pet Basheerabad Police Station.

TSCPCR Forms Special Bench

The Telangana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (TSCPCR) has also constituted a special bench to hear the case.

POCSO Case Registered Against Bandi Bhagirath

A case was registered against Bandi Bhagirath under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for the alleged sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl.

The girl’s mother alleged that Bhagirath had been harassing her daughter for more than six months.

She also alleged that he misbehaved with the girl at a farmhouse in Moinabad.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Section 11 read with Section 12 of the POCSO Act and Sections 74 and 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Bhagirath Filed Complaint Alleging Honeytrap Attempt

Bandi Bhagirath, 25, had earlier lodged a complaint at Karimnagar II Town Police Station against the girl and her parents.

He alleged that they attempted to honeytrap him and demanded Rs 5 crore to avoid filing a police complaint.

Based on his complaint, police booked a case against the girl and her parents under various sections of the BNS related to extortion, criminal intimidation, criminal conspiracy and common intention.

Bandi Sanjay Denies Allegations

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar denied the allegations against his son.

He claimed that political rivals were attempting to tarnish his image by making false allegations.

Cyberabad Police have intensified the investigation into the POCSO case registered against Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s son Bandi Bhagirath, with DCP Ritiraj supervising the probe at Pet Basheerabad Police Station. The Telangana government, TSCPCR and police officials have initiated multiple steps in the investigation, while the accused’s Call Detail Records are being analysed and efforts are underway to trace him.
