CII Green Cementech 2026 Advances Sustainable Cement Manufacturing

Addressing the inaugural session, ER Raj Narayanan, Co-Chairman of Green Cementech 2026 and Business Head & Chief Manufacturing Officer of UltraTech Cement Limited, said the cement industry is playing a crucial role in India’s infrastructure growth and sustainable development.

Hyderabad: The 22nd edition of Green Cementech 2026, the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) flagship annual conference and expo for the cement sector, commenced at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) on Wednesday with a strong focus on sustainability, decarbonisation, and low-carbon cement manufacturing.

Organised by the CII-Green Business Centre (CII-GBC) in partnership with the Cement Manufacturers’ Association (CMA), the two-day event has brought together more than 400 delegates, including policymakers, industry leaders, technology providers, researchers, and sustainability experts from India and abroad.

Over the years, Green Cementech has emerged as a major platform for discussions on decarbonisation pathways, digital transformation, energy efficiency, and future-ready technologies aimed at driving sustainable growth in the cement industry.

“The cement industry is not only contributing to India’s economic growth, but also laying the foundation for Viksit Bharat through resilient and sustainable infrastructure. The theme of Green Cementech 2026, ‘Road towards Net Zero Carbon,’ perfectly captures the direction in which the Indian cement sector is moving today,” he said.

C. Shekar Reddy, National Chairman of the CII Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), highlighted the importance of low-carbon materials in the development of green infrastructure.

“The adoption of sustainable and low-carbon construction materials will be critical to achieving India’s climate goals. Through our regional chapters, we continue to create awareness among architects, engineers, builders, consultants, and students on sustainable construction practices,” he stated.

Masood Mallick, Chairman of the CII National Committee on Waste to Worth Technologies and Managing Director & CEO of Re Sustainability Limited, stressed the need for circular economy practices and AI-driven innovations in the cement sector.

“The industry must increasingly adopt AI-driven solutions and focus on material intelligence, waste utilisation, and performance-based standards that encourage innovation while delivering measurable impact,” he said.

Aparna Dutt Sharma, Secretary General of the Cement Manufacturers’ Association, said collaboration among industry stakeholders would be essential for achieving long-term sustainability goals.

“Industry partnerships will play a defining role in shaping the future of decarbonisation. CMA, along with CII and industry partners, is creating meaningful impact by bringing together policy, innovation, and industry action on one platform,” she noted.

One of the major highlights of the conference was the launch of the publication titled “Carbon Capture: Technologies, Economics, and Scale-up Pathways.” The event also featured panel discussions on net-zero strategies, technical sessions on sustainable cement manufacturing, and presentations on emerging technologies.

The concurrent expo featured over 50 exhibitors showcasing advanced solutions in energy efficiency, emissions reduction, waste management, and smart manufacturing technologies.

Green Cementech 2026 will continue on May 15 with additional technical sessions, leadership dialogues, and industry interactions aimed at promoting a low-carbon, resilient, and digitally enabled cement industry in India.
