Seethakka Unveils Telangana Women Empowerment Plan with Loan Melas, SHG Programmes and Solar Projects

Telangana will celebrate Women’s Week from May 25 to 31 with programmes on women empowerment, SHGs, livelihood units, RTC buses, solar plants, and loan melas.

The Telangana government will organise “Mahila Varotsavalu” (Women’s Week Celebrations) across the state from May 25 to May 31 to strengthen the economic, social, and political empowerment of women.

The week-long programmes are being conducted as part of the Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika initiative. Rural women, self-help groups (SHGs), organisations, young women, girls, differently-abled persons, elderly women, and women from all sections of society will participate in the celebrations.

The government said the programmes will focus on economic self-reliance, livelihood expansion, social security, health, safety, infrastructure development, and strengthening women’s groups.

Special Programmes Planned From Village to District Level

The Telangana government will organise:

  • Special meetings
  • Awareness programmes
  • Infrastructure inaugurations
  • Grounding of livelihood units
  • Loan melas

These programmes will be conducted from village level to district level across the state.

Revanth Reddy to Launch Incubator Programme in Hyderabad on May 29

A major highlight of the Women’s Week celebrations will be the launch of an incubator programme for women entrepreneurs by A. Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad on May 29.

The event will also include the grounding of livelihood units.

The government stated that the programme would become an important milestone in expanding economic opportunities for women’s groups across Telangana.

Minister Seethakka Highlights Government Vision

Seethakka stated in a release that the government’s goal is to transform women’s groups from savings groups into productive forces driving the rural economy.

She said opportunities such as:

  • Bank loans
  • Livelihood units
  • Micro industries
  • Agricultural processing centres
  • Solar power projects

are being taken to the village level for women.

The minister stated that increasing income in the hands of women would strengthen families and improve the rural economy.

She added that every programme being conducted during Women’s Week has been designed to promote women’s economic self-reliance, safety, and leadership development.

Seethakka called upon all departments across the state to coordinate and make the celebrations successful.

Day-Wise Schedule of Telangana Women’s Week Celebrations

May 25 – Solar Power Plants and Special General Body Meetings

Programmes include:

  • Launch of 0.5 megawatt solar power plants in Vikarabad, Khammam, Peddapalli and Komaram Bheem Asifabad
  • Flag-off of 450 RTC buses operated by women’s groups
  • Nutrition awareness programmes at district level
  • Special general body meetings of SHGs and village organisations
  • Release of bank loans and interest-free loans for women’s groups
  • Felicitation of best groups
  • Preparation of 2026-27 action plan

May 26 – Social Inclusion Day

Programmes include:

  • Identification of eligible women, elderly persons, differently-abled persons, and girls
  • Inclusion of remaining women into SHGs
  • Formation of SHGs for differently-abled persons and elderly women
  • Mock Parliament for teenage girls

May 28 – Infrastructure Development Programmes

Programmes include:

  • Foundation stone laying ceremonies for women’s group buildings, work sheds, and women warehouses
  • Bhoomi puja and inauguration of works

May 29 – Loan Melas and Livelihood Unit Grounding

Programmes include:

  • Launch of incubator programme in Hyderabad by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy
  • Mandal-level loan melas
  • Special meetings of mandal federations
  • Grounding of 500 poultry units and micro industries
  • Financial assistance through bank linkage
  • Community Enterprise Fund support
  • Distribution of oil carts and neck egg carts
  • Distribution of battery vehicles for differently-abled persons
  • Bhoomi puja for agricultural processing units, shade nets, and construction of 185 warehouses
  • Grounding of beekeeping units and bio-input resource centres

May 30 and 31 – Women Safety and Infrastructure Inaugurations

Programmes include:

  • Inauguration of district women federation buildings
  • Bhoomi puja for petrol pumps in identified areas
  • Special meetings of district federations
  • Distribution of bicycles to teenage girls
  • Felicitation of women who learned education under the “Ammaku Aksharamala” programme
  • Health camps and medical tests for women
  • Special wing programmes for women’s safety
  • Distribution of Indiramma sarees in urban areas

Government Focuses on Women’s Participation in Rural Economy

The Telangana government stated that the Women’s Week celebrations are being organised on a prestigious scale to increase women’s participation in Praja Palana and strengthen women’s groups as key forces in the rural economy.

Minister Seethakka appealed to officials, women’s groups, and public representatives across Telangana to work together to make the celebrations successful.

The Telangana government will conduct statewide Women’s Week celebrations from May 25 to 31 under the Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika initiative to strengthen women’s economic, social, and political empowerment. Major programmes including solar power plant launches, RTC bus flag-offs, loan melas, livelihood projects, women entrepreneur incubator programmes, health camps, and infrastructure inaugurations will be held across Telangana with participation from women’s groups and self-help groups.
