Ponnam Prabhakar Lays Foundation for Rs 1.5 Crore Kollapur RTC Bus Station Upgrade, Announces Hyderabad–Somashila AC Bus

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar announced the Rs 1.5 crore modernisation of Kollapur RTC Bus Station, visited Somashila Eco Park and announced an AC RTC bus service from Hyderabad to Somashila via Kollapur.

Hyderabad/Nagar Kurnool: Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has announced the modernisation of the RTC Bus Station at Kollapur in Nagar Kurnool district. Sharing details of the programme on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the minister said he laid the foundation stone for the first phase of the project worth Rs 1.5 crore along with fellow Minister Jupally Krishna Rao. He also announced plans to introduce an AC RTC bus service from Hyderabad to Somashila via Kollapur and directed officials to prepare tourism-focused development plans as Somashila continues to emerge as a major tourist destination.

Kollapur RTC Bus Station to Be Modernised at Rs 1.5 Crore

According to Ponnam Prabhakar, the foundation stone for the first phase of the modernisation of the RTC Bus Station at the Kollapur Assembly constituency headquarters was laid at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore.

The programme was held along with Minister Jupally Krishna Rao.

Officials Asked to Prepare Somashila Tourism Development Report

The minister said Somashila is developing as a tourism destination and instructed officials to prepare a detailed report on development works required for the convenience of passengers.

He said future infrastructure should support the increasing number of tourists visiting the area.

Somashila Eco Park Visited

During the visit, Ponnam Prabhakar inaugurated Somashila Eco Park and inspected the tourist-friendly facilities developed at the location.

He directed officials to prepare plans to further develop the area in line with its tourism potential.

Hyderabad to Somashila AC RTC Bus via Kollapur

The transport minister announced that the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) will introduce an AC bus service from Hyderabad to Somashila via Kollapur.

He appealed to the public to make use of and support the proposed service.

RTC Operates 10,000 Buses Every Day

Highlighting the performance of the RTC, Ponnam Prabhakar said:

  • RTC buses operate 35 lakh kilometres every day.
  • Around 65 lakh passengers travel by RTC daily.
  • The corporation operates 10,000 buses.
  • Nearly 45,000 employees work for the RTC.

He said the corporation continues to provide transport facilities to the public across the state.

RTC Safety Record Highlighted

The minister said the RTC accident rate is zero and added that the corporation has experienced drivers operating its services.

He said passenger safety remains one of the RTC’s highest priorities.

Survey Ordered for Bus Station Land

Ponnam Prabhakar instructed officials to:

  • Conduct a survey of the RTC Bus Station land.
  • Prepare a detailed plan of action.
  • Ensure the bus station is developed to meet the future needs of tourism in Somashila.

Ponnam Prabhakar said the Kollapur RTC Bus Station in Nagar Kurnool district will be modernised in the first phase at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore, with the foundation stone laid alongside Minister Jupally Krishna Rao. He also directed officials to prepare a tourism development report for Somashila, conduct a survey of the bus station land, and formulate a long-term development plan. The minister further announced an AC RTC bus service from Hyderabad to Somashila via Kollapur to improve connectivity and support tourism.
