Hyderabad: Ahead of the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, the Hyderabad City Police held a meeting with representatives of the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti to discuss public safety and festival arrangements. Police urged organisers to ensure that Ganesh idols are not more than 15 feet in height, considering the 22-foot-high electricity wires and 4-foot trolley height, and warned against dangerous attempts to lift low-hanging power lines during processions. The department assured full cooperation to devotees and organisers for the peaceful conduct of the festival.

Hyderabad Police Hold Meeting With Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti
As part of preparations for the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival, the Hyderabad City Police met with representatives of the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti.
During the meeting, police said that protecting the lives of the public is the highest priority and discussed several precautionary measures to prevent accidents during the festival.
Idol Height Should Not Exceed 15 Feet
Police recalled that accidents had occurred in the past due to Ganesh idols coming into contact with electricity wires.
Keeping those incidents in mind, officials requested organisers to take preventive measures during the idol manufacturing stage itself.
Police advised the Samiti representatives to coordinate with idol makers and ensure that:
- Electricity wires are approximately 22 feet high.
- The height of the transport trolley is 4 feet.
- The Ganesh idol height should be limited to below 15 feet for procession purposes.
Officials said these precautions would help avoid contact with overhead electricity lines during the procession.
Warning Against Dangerous Attempts to Lift Power Lines
The Hyderabad City Police clearly instructed organisers and devotees not to make dangerous attempts to lift low-hanging electricity wires using sticks, poles or pipes during Ganesh processions.
Police said such practices pose a serious risk to human life and must be avoided.
